The Museum has a specialised library that contains the important Classical, and specifically Roman, archaeological resource of over 13,000 volumes, to which we should add more than 20,000 corresponding to national and international press publications.
The National Museum of Roman Art library's basic objective is to tend to the needs of the Museum itself and to support archaeological research into the Roman world, with special attention to the Augusta Emerita archaeological sites.
Access is free to Museum personnel, researchers, students and any individuals who can demonstrate a need to use this resource. The timetable is from Monday to Friday, mornings only (9.00 to 14.00).
The library has 25 reading spaces and 4 computer terminals and can offer users a manual catalogue and automated search facility, as well as in-room consultation, library-to-library loans, and a reprographic service subject to the limitations imposed by the law as it stands.
The resources have been catalogued and the documents have been assigned to the following sections:
Our publications, ANAS and Cuadernos Emeritenses, can be exchanged with over 200 national and international series concerning Classical Antiquity, through the "Servicio de Publicaciones e Intercambio" (Publications and Exchange Service).
